Here are the 3 pieces of training equipment I recommend for a home gym set up. This is perfect if you’re training in a small studio apartment or similar set up in your bedroom or living room with limited space and don’t want to drop a lot of money into it – but I’ll also give you some extra recommendations if you have more space and expense to spare.

Im training at home, and feel that I can train everything just well with my just body weight, except for my legs 🙁

My home gym has the following: dumbells, kettlebells, bands, ab wheel, and medicine ball 10lbs.

No home workout isn't complete unless you get jabbed by those pointy ends of my dumbbells, all I could afford unfortunately, but they do the job and there adjustable, so I can't complain 😀

TheTurtleHermit Roshi says:

I train at home and at the gym. Depends on what I am doing. Sometimes I just get an itch to work out, and don't feel like going to the gym. I do more heavy lifting at the gym, and more cardio/hiit/liss/plyo at home.

Susmito Rittik says:

I honestly don't feel like ever going back to the gym. To go to the gym you have to get all your stuff ready, drive to the gym, find parking, and so forth, only to find yourself in a crowded, smelly environment where you often have to queue up for equipment and/or feel like an asshole for occupying two pieces of equipment at the same time when you're supersetting. And now, with the pandemic, I'm even less enthusiastic about going to the gym. I find home training a lot more convenient (you can start working out literally anytime inspiration strikes, without having to do any preparations), and it also challenges me to be a little more creative than "just adding weight" for progressive overload, which I enjoy.

But having said that, there is one obstacle to training at home that I'm trying to find a way around, and I would love to see you chime in on this. As you mentioned, when training with resistance bands, one of the problems you face is that the resistance isn't uniform throughout the range of motion. If I were to get a bare bones pulley system that loops over a bar (I've got a doorway pull-up bar), how can I set it up for different heights (e.g., for bicep curls or rows where your torso is upright and you're pulling perpendicular to your torso). I would prefer to not change the position of the pull-up bar because it's a pain to set it up again (due to logistical issues I won't bore you with here).

Kuku Kabala says:

This quarantine made me focus more on my own goals and less on haging out with friends, which is good cuz I was wasting too much time on getting high and watching movies instead of making progress. Started calisthenics with a weight vest and pull up bar, got good strength gains but now I started going to the gym as well to mix it up more and do legs more effectively.

I would add a power tower to the list. Relatively cheap new and esp used (outside pandemic gouging time frame) and hits multiple major and minor muscles at the same time and you can add gymnastic rings to it. I do work out at home. Started building a home gym in Jan, with the purchase of a $50 brand new power tower someone was discarding that regularly sold for a few hundred and a more robust dip station, when my commute increased by 2 hrs esp for the winter nights when I didn't want to go to the gym and by March it was a good basic gym, then added more once the gyms shut down to finish it off. I won't return to the gym, I now have everything I need.

Loved the video. I am 62 and I have been training at home for several years. Primarily for convenience and the fact I have severe stenosis in my lumbar spine. This means I can vary my workouts and tend to do micro workouts rather than one long one. Every morning I do a 5 km walk with my dog. This is usually just before sunrise. About 8-9am I then do a 30min workout. this varies from bodyweight, bands/TRX and dumbbell complexes to natural movement routine. In the evening I do karate class several times a week and on other nights do more practice interspersed with yoga, stretching, mobility. I also toss 10 minute tabata / HIT routing in the mix. Again this takes about 30 mins. I find this approach more convenient and I can tailor my workouts according to the pain levels in my back.

After refreshing ebay, amazon, walmart for hours a day for about a month.. i finally found a power rack in stock for a reasonable price. Slowly built my home gym and now i got power rack with lat pulldown, adjustable dumbbells, olympic bench, and some weights.. best investment by far! Canceled my gym membership because working out at home whenever i want and not worrying about people staring at me because of form or light weights is the best feeling!
