Vibhour jain says:

Hi Doctor, I am 29 year Male,I had 3 times right hand shoulder dislocated.1st was in Jan 2011, 2nd Nov-2014 and 3rd in Jan 2015. 1st and 2nd happened due accidental fall. 3rd event, i normally raised my hand uptill my shoulder (90') only and it got dislocated.
MRI Impressions:
1.Anterior labroligamentous periosteal sleeve avulsion (ALPSA Lesion).
2.Hill-Sach lesion.
3.Moderate joint effusion with distended joint capsule

Doctor has suggested me Surgery, but I want to avoid it.
I am worried because of my 3rd dislocation which happened very soon after 2nd event and at 3rd event it just got dislocated on raising my hand till 90 degree..

a year ago i dislocated my shoulder until now i have dislocated my shoulder 9 or 10 times. How can i rehab to my normal form

Joseph De Marco says:

what are good strengthening exercise for mid-healing stage sublimed GH joint???

Caitlin Foster says:

I'm 17 and had shoulder surgery about 3 months ago to stop recurring shoulder dislocation, at this point I'm at 90% of my original movement and my specialist expects me to be at practically 100% by 6 months. I think surgery is great a great option so long as you have a experienced surgeon and work hard on physio for rehab.

Duane Peterson says:

I have a problem of recurrent shoulder dislocation. I have had my left shoulder dislocated around 20-30 times now after many motorbike accidents and I'm just 23. I want to go to the gym and train but I can't because after training the chances increase for me and my shoulder dislocates even if I turn while sleeping at night. I was advised surgery but I'm scared to restrict my movements in any way. Do you have any advise for me?

www.sportsinjuryclinic.net says:

Possibly. It's impossible to tell without assessing your shoulder for associated soft tissue damage. Just make sure you follow all advice given to you by your Doctor / Physio and follow a thorough rehab program

Jeff Korum says:

I dislocated my shoulder five times when I was in my late teens and early 20s. Then I had surgery and all was well, until yesterday, when I dislocated my shoulder again–nearly 30 years after the surgery. (I am now 53.) Will I now face the same chronic dislocations that I had when I was younger?

www.sportsinjuryclinic.net says:

Kinesiology tape has good reviews from many sports people but I haven't used it myself. It's different to the type of sports strapping I am trained it which is used to support and joint and reduce movement. Kinesio is more for muscle and soft tissue support, blood flow and lymph drainage I believe

pezboy350 says:

ER doc who put mine back in told me I only had to wear the sling 2-3 days. Five days later I was dragging myself through a crawlspace running a gas line for work. I thought the short sling time was odd, but maybe this is why. Any thoughts on Kinesiology tape?

www.sportsinjuryclinic.net says:

Definitely all depends on associated damage. Glad your shoulder is doing well

C.O. wens says:

I think it all depends on the severity of the injury,on my dislocation I got nearly two weeks ago,my doctor had me get an MRI and it showed no torn tendons or muscles, just 4 days after the injury he already had me doing forward arm raises to prevent freezing of the shoulder movement,my shoulder fills better and better every day,I only wear the sling when I sleep to prevent moving my arm toward the direction it was injured,I start PT next week,My Dr. worked on the Governor of Hawaii's shoulder.

www.sportsinjuryclinic.net says:

But keeping the shoulder immobilised will help to prevent further damage to the joint and surrounding soft tissues.

www.sportsinjuryclinic.net says:

I don't know about which position is bebut keep it as still as possible. esn't matter if there is very small movement. The sling is mostly about taking the weight of the arm off the shoulder.

rrrrockin says:

thanx for quik reply ,,its been 4 days now and ive just only taken out to drop my fore arm down kinda like a bicep curland also to clean my arm pit ,,,are you saying complete immobilization and keeping still all the time? kinda like a cast? cause its hard to keep it completely still also contraversary for sling position-internal position vs external sling position suggest better because thehumeral head has contact w the posterior labrum and the anterior labrum together for bankart lesion ?

www.sportsinjuryclinic.net says:

You should keep it in the sling until your orthopedic appointment. Usually it is 3-6 weeks after a dislocation

rrrrockin says:

hi I just popped it out 72 hrs ago and its a straight forward dislocation seperation anterior ,,and possible tears ,,,when do i take it out of inernal sling and what excersise to do doc tells me nothing and awaiting orth apt ,,can you help kindly ..Rob 48 2nd time in 15 yrs

www.sportsinjuryclinic.net says:

@titochuck Yes they can be used in the early stages of ac joint strengthening. Hold isometrics for 5 second initially, progressing to 10.

anotherlevelup says:

G'day folks, how long should I hold my isometrics for, and do these work for an unhappy ac joint as well? Tah.
