Take a look at more hamstrings workouts and more than likely you’ll see the hamstring curl as the primary exercise in the workout. If you find one like this or are currently following a workout like this…I’m asking you to do just one thing…STOP IT!

While it’s true that the hamstring curl machine may in fact train the muscles of the leg to bend the knee and activate the hamstrings…this is NOT the way these muscles work in function. The minute you get up on your feet and stand (as you do for almost 90% of all sports and activities) you no longer need the hamstrings to actively flex the knee. As a matter of fact, they do the opposite!

When you’re standing, the hamstrings actually decelerate knee bending and instead actually straighten the knee!! Crazy I know since it’s backwards from everything you’ve been taught…but true.

When you train using a workout that teaches the hamstrings how to bend the knee you’re actually setting yourself up for an injury to the very same muscle you were trying to prevent that in.

Start training your muscles the way they were MEANT to be trained with AthLEAN-X leading the way. Not only will you stay healthier but you’ll also see that you’ll get quicker results since you’ll be working the muscles the way they were intended to work.

If you want to train not only the hamstrings the right way, but the whole body…then head to http://athleanx.com and get the complete AthLEAN-X Training System. You’re legs will thank you!

Arshdeep Sandhu says:

Hi Jeff, I love your videos. I wanted to know, isn't the hamstring raise the same as the curl machine? So won't it lead to the same injury?

Katerina M says:

How cute! I'm watching this in 2020 🙂

Matt Browning says:

I'm curious about your recommendation for stretching the hamstrings. Do you think seated with legs extended has the opportunity to put too much stress on the lower back without targeting the hamstrings as much as a seated or standing stretch?

Cainel Isom says:

How often should you do hamstring workouts a week if you have weak/bad hamstrings?

this dude …
one day …
for now i can only THUMBS UP EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS VIDEOS!!!

can't believe what i've learned from his vids this week alone!!!!

no more leg curl/leg extension machines is one thing i've learned…. and so much more!!!! and now this vid which gives me more options for working my legs using my bands that i haven't seen james grage do, and i thought he was the (yt) authority on resistance/tubes training.

i'm learning more and more that mister ax has fitness training ALL covered!!

really no need to watch anyone else. although i do like alex and the superhumans at calimove. aside from allll of the superhuman shit they do, like the human flag (WTF!!!!), they have excellent mobility exercises …

aaahh. and then there's delicious-looking daniel from fitnessfaqs. aaahhh daniel!!! YUM!!! aside from being very pleasing to look at, he has introduced me to excellent leg workouts using body weight, like the nordic curl and sissy squat.

i'm very grateful for all of these guys!!!

Brendan F says:

All of these exercises are too wacky. I'm going to look like a nutcase at the gym. Do you have any exercises that are easier to set up and don't require bands? Also, how do you increase the weight for these exercises?

bikramjeet singh says:

Very important information, thanks

TerminatriX86 says:
