#mobility #pectorals #stretching

Searching for the best chest and pectorals stretch? Maybe its about shoulder posture, back pain, shoulder pain or simply just better mobility through the pectorals. Many have asked me what the best way to stretch out the pecs are, so here is my favourite one and have called it the No.1 of Chest and Pec stretches.

In this stretch you are aiming to get from a “T” shape to a “W” shape in the arms without your hands coming off the ground. The best is using a foam roller, but if’ you’re too tight – try it on the floor first, or if you find that even difficult try the doorway option. Have a good listen to all the cues and tips to help you get this one right – because it’s a awesome stretch when you do!

Thank you for this video! I’ve struggled with winged scapula for the better part of my life.

When you had us adding elbows down into “W” shape, I felt my scapula properly aligning as well as stretching through the chest. Thank you! That doorway stretch leads to pins and needles and like you said isn’t a resting position so I couldn’t then go into calm breathing which for me is crucial to these longer stretches that are very much like holding a yoga position.

Could you do a video on the Brugger postural exercise? The videos I find are not consistent, squeeze scapula together or not, etc.

Hey doc, I've had a tight chest that has caused my shoulders to round for well over a year, did physiotherapy but it only improved temporarily. I tried this stretch and i immediately felt a difference in my shoulder but I've noticed that my traps get really sore and tight after this stretch, is that normal? Or am i doing it wrong?

Wow I need to hold this longer then I thought…thanks

Penthesilea says:

Thanks so much. Now I can cross that annoying doorway stretch off my list. The W makes all the difference. 👍

Off topic – this position puts the spotlight on your beautiful calves. Wow! 🌟
