I developed frozen shoulder my first week of radiation therapy. My radiation was focused at the L5 of my spinal column. I notified my radiation oncologist of the pain in my shoulders. She said the radiation was not targeted to my shoulders. The pain become worse over the five weeks of radiation treatments. My PCP ordered blood work to see if I had polymyalgia rheumatica. The bloodwork results indicated the polymyalgia rheumatica. Prednisone did not alleviate the pain. I went to see a orthopedic doctor. He determined I had frozen shoulder. Radiation treatments can cause frozen shoulder. The doctor administered a steroid shot in each shoulder. In a matter of a couple of hours I had more mobility and less pain in my shoulders. I do exercises on both shoulders several times a week. The pain and mobility is improving each day.

I have had shoulder pain since May and have been having massage therapy and have been doing various shoulder exercises on my own (and from your videos). Waiting for x-ray results (which I know will prove or disprove anything) and then on to who knows what next. In meantime, I am working on all these stretches every day, several times a day. Just when I think I'm making progress, I take a step back and it's tight and more painful again. How long should it take for frozen shoulder to recover? (given a fair amount of working on it). Thank you for all you do.
